One of Eli’s favorite books is Corduroy by Don Freeman. He loves to read it over and over and recently started to quote lines from the book as a way of telling jokes. The other night while reading it to him the part where Corduroy says, “‘Could this be a mountain?’ he wondered. ‘I think I’ve always wanted to climb a mountain.'” lingered with me. It perfectly captures Eli at this age where he is able to take all of the simple, everyday things and make them amazing. Books, trucks, trains, walks, runs and airplanes are all just so exciting.

Somehow Summer is flying by! We’ve been busy and taken lots of pictures but haven’t had a chance to go through them all. Here is a quick pic to enjoy in the meantime.

Eli is busy these days! Busy playing, drawing and visiting with friends. The boy is always busy.

At 17 months, Eli loves going to playgrounds and is especially happy if he spots a toy truck. In general, he loves to point out trucks wherever we go, and you often hear him shouting “truck, truck” as we walk down the street.

Eli and Dan got out for a short hike a couple of days before the blizzard hit. For the first time, Eli was able to walk around the woods on his own.

Taking in the unbelievable amount of snow (2 ft? We’re not sure of final counts, but Dan can attest to what a pain it was to shovel)
